The international competition of specialized evaluation "Taste Olymp Awards", with the awards of superior taste of food and beverages, announced the awarded products forthe year 2020, for both Greece and abroad.

The high quality examined samples that participated exceeded 700, while among them, four products from Lemnos, and the Poriazi Family stood out. The announcement of the results was very triumphal for the company, since all its products (that participated in the competition) won distinctions!

Referring to thetraditional Lemnos’ Flomaria, which managed to win the Platinum Award, which is the highest and most important prize of the competition. Note that this is the second time that the Lemnos’Flomariaof the Poriazi Family are awarded in a competition of superior quality and taste, since they already have a Great Taste star from last year.

The Wheat Flour of Lemnos won The Silver Award. The Wheat Flour isproduced from local wheat, grown by the Poriazi Family and the cooperating farmers of the island, through the Contract Farming program.

Additionally, the Wheat Bites and the Barley Rusks of Olive Oil (which are a new product of the Poriazi Family) won the Bronze Award.

The competition, which took place for the 5th consecutive year, took place in Athens from 19 to 21 June, while their evaluation was done by the numerous Olymp Awards Chefs' Jury Panel, headed by Konstantinos Mouzakis (Mr. Chef Europe 2015, Director Gastronomy Club Unesco, Member WACS). Connoisseurs participated in the process, such as distinguished chefs and tasters under the auspices (among others) of the Ministry of Rural Development and Tourism and the Union Of Hellenic Chambers Of Commerce.

All products that participated in the evaluation process were tested by the method of blind tasting, without packaging and without any distinctive elements. Each judge performed an organoleptic analysis of the product they tested, and wrote down a numerical score on the evaluation sheet, whichrepresented the overall sense of enjoyment (which is more important for the final score) as well as other criteria such as appearance, smell, texture, taste and sense in mouth.

The Olymp Awards come as an additional honorary distinction and recognition of the high quality, the wonderful taste and the excellent raw materials of the products of the Poriazi Family. If nothing else, these awards only give joy, pride and strength to the company to continue the work of producing its prime, traditional products.
